Do you charge extra for travel and setup? What is your travel range?
All packages include the costs of travel and setup! I am happy to travel to your event up to 100 miles from Greenbrier in Central Arkansas, for no extra fee. Venues more than 100 miles away are also feasible in most cases with a customized quote.
Will you be our DJ or will it be someone else?
As a proud solo artist, I offer my guarantee that I will never transfer your booking to another provider unless a true emergency should happen that keeps me from performing your event personally.
We want a DJ that can mix! Do you mix?
Absolutely! I spend countless hours practicing and training to professionally mix songs based on tempo, key, and phrasing. I like to use tasteful remixes and mashups and your guests will love the high-energy “nightclub” experience on your dance floor!
Will you make announcements during our reception?
Of course! Wedding guests are so much more comfortable when a professional emcee guides them through the different parts of the reception. I will welcome the guests to the venue, introduce you and your wedding party, and will provide warm professional announcements throughout the reception as needed.
What planning will we do before our wedding?
Three keys to your wedding running smoothly are communication, communication, and communication! All wedding packages include a live planning meeting about one month before your wedding date. We will do this meeting either in person or by Zoom, and we’ll spend about 60 to 90 minutes covering every detail of your wedding day from beginning to end. I am also always available for unlimited calls, texts, or emails at no charge - I want to understand your plans and vision perfectly!
Will you come to our rehearsal the night before?
Rehearsals are an extra option to help make sure your ceremony goes perfectly, especially if your wedding includes several wedding party members, children, etc. Many weddings do not require this, but I am happy to attend your ceremony rehearsal for an additional charge of $150, subject to availability.
What happens if something goes wrong with your equipment?
I make it a priority to be prepared for every possible equipment situation, even a total power failure in the venue! I travel with extra cables and equipment, a battery backup system, and I will load your playlists onto multiple digital devices. Modern DJ speakers are self-contained with internal amplifiers, this means that even if one speaker should fail during your reception, the other speakers will still keep the party going!
Is it okay if our wedding is outside?
I love outdoor weddings! My package includes a battery-powered ceremony system perfect for any location. Your officiant will be given a wireless lapel mic, and extra connections are available for other microphones, guitars, instruments, etc.
The reception and dancing portion of the night can also be outside, but the larger reception setup requires reliable electrical power.
Outdoor events naturally require ideal weather, and an indoor backup plan should always be in place for rain, storms, or snow.
What equipment do you bring? What if our venue already has a sound system?
I travel with top-grade professional audio equipment, including Electro-Voice speakers and subwoofers, Shure wireless microphones, and Chauvet lighting and effects. If your venue has excellent equipment or requires that we use their house system, I am happy to discuss this with you and the venue operator. Please see my Gear List at this link!
Do we pick our own music or do you?
Both! Your wedding music should to be perfectly curated to YOUR unique style! I will meet with you to discuss your favorite genres and favorite artists, and we will work together to create the perfect playlist. I always ask couples to provide me with specific tracks for their ceremony songs, first dance, and dances with parents. The rest of the night will include other songs that I select for you based on your style. I am happy to receive any of your playlists from Spotify or Apple Music, and make them a part of your reception night.
Our favorite dance music has explicit lyrics, is that okay?
This is a topic we will always discuss at your planning meeting! I am happy to accommodate any requests you have without judgment. My standard practice is to play “PG-13” style music during the early parts of your reception and save the more explicit songs for later in the night. I will try my best to accommodate your preferences for music lyrics, and I will never use explicit language during my microphone announcements.
What happens if you get sick or hurt?
Fortunately, I have never missed a wedding performance for any reason. But if a true emergency should happen like death, illness, or injury to me or someone in my family, I will do everything possible to help you retain a trusted replacement DJ at his or her standard rates. Any pre-paid money will be either immediately refunded to you or transferred to a replacement DJ - whichever is your preference.
Can our guests make requests? Can they give toasts?
Of course!... (as long as this is okay with you!) This is a topic we will discuss at your planning meeting, and I am happy to play any request that fits in well with your playlist style. I also love when family members give toasts, but I will only give them a microphone if their toast is on your sequence list beforehand, or if both of you tell me you approve of this during the wedding.
What type of music do you play?
I love playing all types of popular music from all eras and all genres. For most weddings, I start off with classic hits that older family members will enjoy, and I like to mix a wide variety of dance music during your dance party - pop, hip-hop, country, rock, disco, rap, Latin, and R&B. I am happy to work with any playlists you have on Spotify or Apple Music and include your favorite jams throughout the night.
Will you work with our planner and coordinator?
Absolutely! Your coordinator is welcome to participate in our planning meeting(s), and I will work with them to make sure every detail of the wedding goes perfectly. Many times, your coordinator and I will work out minor issues behind the scenes that you aren’t even aware of!
We have an idea for a fun game, is that okay?
Lets have fun!! Yes, couples send me links and videos all the time with ideas for reception games, and we will work together to make sure they go great. Some popular games are the “shoe game”, “photo race”, and “scavenger hunt”.
Do you work with LGBT+ and same-sex couples?
Congratulations! Love is always beautiful, Let’s talk!
What will you wear to our wedding?
For most weddings, I dress in black with nice pants, vest, dress shirt, and necktie. For some outdoor receptions if it is either very hot or cold, I will wear a “DTC Events” polo shirt, or a black winter coat. Please tell me if your wedding will have a particular style for men like denim jeans, etc.
Will we be signing a contract? May we see your contract while we are still deciding?
Of course! I do require that both parties sign a short engagement contract that includes most of the items on this FAQ list. Please click here to download a blank copy!
